What to Send a Rendering Studio: Inputs Checklist

What to Send a Rendering Studio: Inputs Checklist

The fastest way to a good first draft is a complete brief. Most delays come from a missing elevation, an unchosen material or a viewpoint nobody described. This page lists what to send for each type of job, with a checklist at the end. Not everything is needed on day one, and a partial set is a fine start: tell us what is missing and we say what it affects.

For every job

  • Your name, company and the project’s purpose: planning, pre-sales, investor deck, competition, marketing.
  • The delivery date you are working to, and where the images will be used (web, brochure, hoarding, planning submission).
  • A site address or location, so we can match sun angle, planting and surroundings.
  • A share link (Dropbox, WeTransfer, Google Drive, OneDrive) rather than email attachments.

Exterior rendering

  • Plans, elevations and sections, or the 3D model.
  • Site plan and any context: neighbouring buildings, road, levels.
  • Facade materials and colours, with samples or product references where the choice matters.
  • Landscape intent: planting, paving, boundaries, cars and people if wanted.
  • Viewpoints: marked on a plan, or a photo of the angle you want. Time of day (day, dusk) and season.

Interior rendering

  • Plans, interior elevations and the ceiling plan, or the 3D model.
  • Material and finish schedule, furniture and fixture selections with images or links.
  • Lighting intent: daylight direction, warm or cool, feature lighting.
  • Camera positions marked on the plan, and any reference images for mood. The finishes sheet does not need to be complete: missing items are proposed in the first draft.

3D floor plans

  • A dimensioned plan (PDF, CAD or a clean scan), with unit numbers and areas if they are to be labelled.
  • Furniture style, flooring and colour direction. The number of unit types affects the price, so list them.

Animation and walkthroughs

  • The model or drawings, and the route you want: start, points of interest, end.
  • Length, aspect ratio and where it will play (web, sales suite, event screen).
  • Any narration, titles or logo you will supply.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work from a PDF floor plan or a sketch?

Yes. Clean dimensioned plans, elevations and sections give the most accurate result. Tell us what you have and we say what it affects.

Which software files can you open?

CAD, Revit, SketchUp and Rhino files are the usual starting points, along with PDFs and reference images.

Do I have to choose every material before we start?

No. Send what you have. Where finishes are missing we propose them in the first draft and you correct them in the revision round.
