Architectural Rendering Turnaround Benchmark: 206 Delivered Projects

Architectural Rendering Turnaround Benchmark: 206 Delivered Projects

The answer: across 206 delivered Praxis Studio projects, the median time from brief to first draft was 4 business days (middle half of projects: 2 to 8). The median time to the final approved render was 11 business days (middle half: 7 to 22), with a median of 4 revision rounds. Measured from project files, not estimated.

By Dhaval Parikh, Praxis Studio. Data window: briefs opened July 2024 to October 2026 (128 in 2025, 76 in 2026, 2 in 2024). Published 27 October 2026.

Results

Business days = Monday to Friday, brief day excluded. P25 and P75 are the 25th and 75th percentiles: half of all projects fall between them. Medians, never averages.

In calendar days the all-project medians are 6 days to first draft (P25 2, P75 12) and 15 days to final (P25 9, P75 30). Of the 206 delivered projects, 45% had a first draft inside 3 business days and 58% inside 5. The fastest return of a revision (client markup in, new render out) had a median of 4 hours 21 minutes across the 172 delivered projects with a measurable revision (P25 1h 54m, P75 8h 10m).

What this says: a first draft usually arrives in the first week, a final render takes about 11 business days, and larger interior jobs run longer because they carry more views and more revision rounds. Projects with five or more delivered renders took a median of 3 business days to first draft and 14 to final (n=111 and n=92).

Method

The rules were written down before the numbers were computed. In short:

  • Unit: one delivered project folder from our project archive.
  • Brief date: the day the project folder was opened. First draft: the earliest delivered render file. Final: the latest delivered render file. Dates come from file timestamps.
  • Included: projects with a readable brief date and at least one delivered render, where the first draft is on or after the brief and no more than 45 days after it, and where final is no more than 120 days after the brief (for the brief-to-final column only). 33 of 239 archived projects were excluded (5 no date, 15 no delivered render, 4 render before brief, 9 gap over 45 days). No project was excluded for being slow or fast.
  • Revision rounds: dated round folders in the project record (the same count our case studies use). The CSV also gives the stricter client_markup_rounds, the number of client revision-request folders only; its overall median is 3 (P25 1, P75 5).
  • Project type is a keyword classification of the project files, not a client label. Types with fewer than ten projects are grouped under “Commercial and other”; a figure is shown only when its n is 10 or more.

Limits

  • The archive index covers 2025 and 2026 properly and only part of 2024. This is a 2025-2026 benchmark, not the studio’s whole history (founded 2010).
  • File timestamps can be shifted by copying or restoring files. First drafts dated on the brief day itself (13 of 206) are mostly small single-view jobs.
  • The index does not record deliverable type (still, animation, floor plan), so the table splits by building type instead.
  • Calendar-day medians differ by year: 8 days to first draft for 2025 briefs against 3 for 2026 briefs. Our stated turnaround is a first draft in 3 to 5 business days and finals in about 11 business days, which matches the measured medians.
  • Client names and locations are removed from the data.
