How it is priced

Priced per image, not per m²

Rendering cost does not scale with floor area. A rendered view is priced for what it takes to build and light that view, so a house and a tower start at the same per-image price and move up with complexity and the number of views. There is no per-m² or per-sqm rate to work out.

Terms

Terms in plain words

  • Timing. A first draft usually arrives in 3 to 5 business days after complete drawings. Finals follow in 5 to 8 business days. Animation and VR are scheduled in the quote.
  • Revisions. Two revision rounds are included in every starting price. Further rounds, or changes to the design after approval, are scoped separately.
  • Usage rights. The finished images are yours to use commercially at full resolution, with no attribution required. For architects, the pre-contract agreement assigns copyright and source files to you on payment.
  • Rush. A compressed schedule can affect the price. Tell us the deadline when you ask for the quote and the schedule and price are agreed together.

Cost drivers

Four things that change your quote

  • Complexity. A single house is quicker to build than a mixed-use block with landscaping and street context.
  • Number of views. More views of the same scene share setup work, so a set is planned and quoted as a whole.
  • Revisions. Two rounds are included. Changes to the design after approval, or further rounds, are scoped separately.
  • Turnaround. A first draft usually takes 3 to 5 business days and finals 5 to 8. A compressed schedule can affect the price, and you see the schedule in the quote.

Source quality matters as well. A clean 3D model or well-dimensioned drawings from SketchUp, Revit, Rhino or CAD keep both cost and schedule down.

Planning your set

How many images do you need?

Typical ranges of views by project type. Use them to plan a budget with the starting prices above.

Project typeTypical viewsWhat they usually cover
Single house2 to 4 viewsUsually the front exterior, a rear or garden view, and one or two key interiors.
Multi-family4 to 10 viewsStreet-facing elevations, amenity spaces, a typical unit interior and often an aerial.
Commercial3 to 8 viewsMain entrance and street presence, lobby, and the spaces that sell the building.
Interiors only1 view per room that mattersKitchens, living areas and show suites are the usual priorities.

Every project is different. Tell us the project and the audience, and we will suggest the views that earn their place.

Your options

In-house, outsourcing or AI tools?

A qualitative comparison. The right answer depends on your volume and how closely images must match your drawings.

OptionStrengthsTrade-offsGood fit for
In-house teamFull control and fast informal feedback.Fixed salaries, software and hardware costs whether or not there is work, and capacity limits at deadline time.A steady, high volume of visualization every month.
Outsourcing to a studioPay per deliverable, scale up or down by project, and draw on a full production team.Needs a clear brief and a few review rounds; quality varies, so judge a studio on a test image.Project-based or uneven demand, and work that must match your design exactly.
AI image toolsQuick, low-cost mood and concept exploration.Geometry, materials and dimensions can drift from your drawings, and results are hard to revise precisely.Early ideas, not drawings-accurate marketing or approval images.

Questions

3D rendering cost FAQ

How much does a 3D architectural rendering cost?

Exterior and interior renders start from $199 per image. 3D floor plans start from $149, photomontage from $399, architectural animation from $1,500 and VR from $3,000. The final figure depends on complexity, the number of views and the revisions you need, and you get a written quote before work starts.

What is included in the starting price?

The starting price covers one view built from your drawings or 3D model, lighting and materials, high-resolution output and 2 revision rounds. Larger scenes, extra views, custom modelling and additional revision rounds are quoted on top.

What makes a rendering more expensive?

Scene size and complexity, how many views you need, how much has to be modelled from scratch, heavy landscaping or entourage, aerial or masterplan angles, extra revision rounds and a compressed schedule. Clean, detailed source files keep cost down.

Can I test the quality before committing to a project?

Yes. Architects can order a single test image for $99 and judge the work before starting a larger project. The details are on the architects page.

Do you charge per image or per project?

Stills are priced per image, and floor plans per plan. Animation and VR are priced per project. If you need several views of the same scene, mention it in your brief and we price the set as a whole.

How long will my project take?

A first draft usually reaches you in 3 to 5 business days after we have complete drawings, and finals follow in 5 to 8 business days. Larger sets, animation and VR are scheduled in the written quote.

Are architectural renderings priced per square metre or per image?

Per image. The size of the building does not set the price: the view you need, its complexity and the number of views do. Exterior and interior renders start from $199 per image and floor plans from $149 per plan, so there is no per-m² or per-sqm rate to calculate.

What does a rendering cost per m2 in the UK?

We do not price by area in the UK or anywhere else. A rendered view starts from $199 per image whatever the floor area, and a photomontage for a planning submission starts from $399. Prices are in US dollars.

Is there a rendering cost calculator?

No. The published starting prices above plus a written quote for your actual views are more reliable than a calculator, because complexity and the number of views move the price. Send the drawings and the views you need and you get a quote with the schedule.

Who owns the final images?

You do. The final images are yours to use commercially at full resolution, and the pre-contract agreement assigns copyright and source files to you on payment. Details are on the architects page.

Do you quote in pounds or euros?

Published starting prices are in US dollars. If you are in the UK or Europe, tell us when you request a quote and we will confirm the details with you.
