Project Overview

111 Master Bedroom is a residential interior project in Ottawa, ON where the design speaks through its details. The residential architect asked us for 2 views that would let those details do the talking.

The Challenge

The design language was distinctive — a mix of forms and materials that doesn’t photograph itself. Translating that into a render that feels lived-in rather than clinical took several rounds of material and lighting refinement.

Stakeholder alignment was part of the challenge. Multiple decision-makers had different priorities for what the renders should emphasise, and we had to find compositions that satisfied all of them without diluting any single perspective.

Our Approach

We leaned on physically-based rendering throughout. Every material — glass, stone, metal, timber — was defined by real-world optical properties. That’s what makes the difference between a render that looks ‘nice’ and one that looks true.

The rendering pipeline was set up to handle 2 outputs efficiently. Shared lighting rigs, consistent material libraries, and a standardised colour pipeline meant every image maintained the same visual standard.

The modelling phase was methodical. We built the geometry from the architectural plans, cross-referencing elevations and sections to catch anything that might read differently in three dimensions than it does on paper.

The Result

The 2 renders were handed over within 1-2 weeks — each optimised for its intended use, from large-format print to responsive web display.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you achieve the warm, lived-in feel in master bedroom visualizations like this Ottawa project?

We carefully balance warm wood tones, soft textile materials, and natural light diffusion through floor-to-ceiling curtains to create an inviting atmosphere that feels residential rather than staged.

Why include human figures in a master bedroom rendering?

Adding people to residential living space renders gives architects and their clients an immediate sense of scale, helping them understand ceiling heights, furniture proportions, and how the room flows during everyday use.

What is the typical turnaround for a residential bedroom visualization at this level of detail?

A detailed master bedroom render with furnishings, materiality, and human figures is typically delivered within 5-7 business days from receipt of finalized drawings and material selections.

How do residential architects use master bedroom renders during client presentations?

Architects present these renders to help homeowners visualize finish combinations—flooring against wall tones, furniture scale relative to the room, and lighting ambiance—before any procurement or construction begins.

What makes residential living space renders different from commercial interior visualizations?

Residential living spaces demand a personal, tactile quality—visible fabric textures on armchairs, realistic wood grain on flooring, and soft ambient lighting—that conveys comfort and intimacy rather than corporate polish.
