Project 91 Colonial Brick Townhouse

Colonial Townhouse Visualization

Front elevation of a brick colonial townhouse with green louvered shutters, wrought-iron fence, chimney, and mature tree canopy.

Project Overview

We approached Project 91 Colonial Brick Townhouse knowing the custom home builder had a tight window and high expectations. 2 exterior views needed to cover front-elevation, corner-view perspectives — and each one had to stand on its own.

The Challenge

Getting the materials right was non-negotiable. The custom home builder had specific finishes in mind, and anything that read as ‘generic CG’ would undermine the credibility of the entire package.

Balancing aesthetics with accuracy is always the tension in this work. The custom home builder wanted images that looked aspirational — but the architects needed every proportion, setback, and material call to be precisely as drawn.

Our Approach

We ran the first round of test renders at reduced resolution to get quick feedback on composition, materials, and overall mood. This let us catch issues early when changes were cheap, not late when they weren’t.

We leaned on physically-based rendering throughout. Every material — glass, stone, metal, timber — was defined by real-world optical properties. That’s what makes the difference between a render that looks ‘nice’ and one that looks true.

Lighting development ran parallel to the modelling. We tested multiple Daylight setups early — before the geometry was even finished — so we could lock in the mood and atmosphere without burning production time later.

The Result

The full set of 2 renders was delivered within 1-2 weeks. Hero images went out first for early marketing, with the complete gallery following shortly after for the project website and brochure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you accurately render the texture and color variation of colonial brick in a 3D exterior visualization?

We use high-resolution scanned brick textures with randomized placement patterns and subtle color shifts per unit to replicate the natural imperfections found in real colonial brickwork, ensuring the facade reads as authentic rather than digitally tiled.

What level of detail can be expected for heritage-style residential exteriors like this colonial townhouse?

Heritage residential exteriors receive meticulous attention to period-correct elements — from the profiled louvered shutters and wrought-iron fence detailing to chimney proportioning and historically appropriate window muntins — so the render can serve as both a design validation tool and a client presentation asset.

What is the typical turnaround time for a luxury residential exterior rendering of this complexity?

A single front-elevation render of a detailed townhouse like this, including material refinement, landscaping, and two rounds of revisions, is typically delivered within 5–7 business days.

How do custom home builders use colonial townhouse renderings during the pre-construction approval process?

Builders use these renders to secure HOA and planning board approvals by demonstrating exact material choices, facade proportions, and streetscape integration before breaking ground, which reduces costly change orders later.

What makes luxury residential exterior visualization different from commercial exterior rendering?

Luxury residential exteriors demand a lifestyle-driven composition — mature tree canopy, natural dappled lighting, and street-level camera angles that evoke curb appeal — whereas commercial work prioritizes massing, signage visibility, and context within a larger urban environment.
